About the Artist: A lifelong South Dakotan, Sandra Sutton calls herself fortunate to be raised alone the banks of the Missouri River in Pollock. She then attended college at Northern State in Aberdeen, where her studies focused on art. Her career of more than 45 years as a hair salon owner and stylist served as a wonderful creative outlet, and it allowed Sandra to continue to incorporate her love of creating art throughout the years. The mediums she enjoys using most are acrylic and watercolor, and she often also uses pen and ink. Sandra has a loose and somewhat primitive style when painting. Color fascinates her, and she always feels challenged to create interesting combinations in her work.
