About Harvey Dunn: Harvey Dunn (1884–1952), born near Manchester, South Dakota, became a celebrated illustrator and teacher after studying under Howard Pyle. Known for his powerful prairie scenes and World War I art, Dunn donated his collection to South Dakota State University in 1950, and today the South Dakota Art Museum houses the largest collection of his work.
