about the artist: Gary Steinley lives and has a studio in Spearfish, SD. Although he has an undergraduate major in art, he actually came into it late. Gary started painting in his mid-fifties, instigated by a workshop from Charles Sovak. Four years later, after more than three decades of teaching, English and education courses were put aside and he moved into full time painting where he has remained. His work is on display in several galleries and he teaches workshops on painting-on-location.
